Whether it's Champagne, Prosecco, English Sparkling wine or whatever your favourite glass of Fizz, Dartmouth and The River Dart must be one of the finest places in the UK to enjoy it!
The constant hustle of water activity contrasted by the quaintness of a quintessential Devon fishing village and the tranquility of the river further up stream means there's something for everyone and every mood for your choice of venue when taking time out to enjoy a glass or two of Fizz with friends or loved ones.
We've tried many and here's our top 5 favourite places to drink Fizz on The Dart.
This has to be our absolute number one favourite and I suppose you'd expect that, as it's actually our boat! But the magic and majesty of The Dart and Dartmouth can really only be best enjoyed from the water and what better place than in the comfort and luxury of our purpose built private cruise boat 'Vivere', AKA The Fizz Boat.
On a beautiful sunny day, Cloud Nine at The Dart Marina Hotel is a wonderful alfresco riverside bar area with quirky seating and stunning views across the Dart and for those, like me who just love to be around boats, the Marina pontoons are packed with awesome boats of all types and sizes. We've spent many hours simply wallowing in the ambience and atmosphere of The Dart at Cloud Nine.
The newly refurbished and reinvented Platform 1 Champagne Bar and Restaurant, located immediately at the top of the Town Pontoon gangway has a commanding position to view all the activity on the water at the busiest point in the river and as the name suggests is fully equipped to satisfy if Champagne is what your looking for!
4. Restaurants on the waterfront
Dartmouth has an abundance of fine dining restaurants with views over the river, all perfect for enjoying a glass of fizz before or even with your meal.
Along South Embankment, you're spoilt for choice between The Seahorse, The Angel and Bushell's Riverside restaurants, all with their own charm and story and just a little further back but still with commanding views over The Boat Float to the river beyond, Taylors Restaurant and The Royal Castle's Grill Room are both delightful and a perfect choice.
5. Let's not forget Kingswear!
Of course we wouldn't want to forget Kingswear and there are few better locations on the Dart than that occupied by The Royal Dart Yacht Club with it's riverside terrace and bar and what better place to enjoy a glass of fizz if you don't actually want to be on the water but unfortunately, unless you're a member, that's not going to be one for you!
But I'm sure they'd be very happy to talk to you about membership!
So there we go, just a quick summary of 5 places that spring to mind when thinking Champagne but we know there are so many more, please do let us know of your favourite place to quaff bubbles in and around Dartmouth.
